Essex United Goes International

The familiar colors of our Essex United Soccer Club have gone global, flashing the familiar EUSC blue well beyond the green fields of Vermont, and adding to the beauty of southern Kenya.

Young soccer players at the Saikeri Primary School and other schools in Kajiado County the school can now field their own Essex United team, thanks to the work and dedication of two long-time friends.

It all started when EUSC parent Daniela Wolf ordered new kits for the EUSC season, and wondered what could be done with the lightly-used jerseys once they phased out.

“They were in great condition, and had a lot of soccer life left in them. “I looked around the indoor Saturday practice at the sea of gently worn blue uniforms and wondered what we could possibly do to repurpose them,” she remembers.

Immediately she thought of friend Michelle Bianchi, who had recently posted on Facebook photos from her work on behalf of The Michelle and Frederick Bianchi Education Foundation. The foundation focuses on removing barriers to education for Maasai children in rural Kenyan communities.

“We were so happy to be the means of getting these beautiful jerseys into the hands of students at the Saikeri Primary School,” says Michelle, who personally delivered the jerseys in early 2026.

As all Essex United parents know, kits have recently been updated, which means there are a lot more jerseys to donate. “Our first attempt at collecting jerseys had such a quick turnaround that I know for sure we missed some families that wanted to donate,” says Wolf.

“Now that everyone should be in possession of the new uniform kit, I’d love to consider another donation opportunity.”
